Seraphina Martin studied printmaking at the National Art School in Paris before moving to Sydney 30 years ago, to teach at the Sydney University Art Workshop. Seraphina was the recipient of the Moya Dyring Studio at the Cite des Arts in Paris in 1988.There, she studied the Viscosity printing at the Atelier 17 under William Hayter. Since 1994 she has developed non toxic technology called Solar Plate etching in her own art practice. In 2005 she was Artist in Residence at the Canberra School of Art, Canberra. In 2009, she was a Delegated for Australian printmakers at the International Print Biennale in France. She has taught printmaking at Meadowbank Tafe, Hornsby Tafe, and Penrith Tafe as well as Sydney Universityfor the past 20 years. In 2011 she was invited as Artist in Residence at the Gov College of Art Calcutta and Kola Bhavan University,Shantineketan, West Bengal, India. She often teaches at the Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, Gymea, Botanic Gardens, Sydney, NSW Art Gallery, Sydney, Context Art, Blue Mountains, Sturt Winter School, Mittagong, and Huter Island Press, Hobart, Tasmania. Currently Seraphina teaches at Willoughby Art Centre, Willoughby, Bankstown Art Centre, Bankstown, Art Est school, Leichhardt, Sydney, SOFA school of Art Mosman.
Seraphina has exhibited widely and her work is represented in private and public collections in Australia and overseas
