Growing up in the Bellingen Valley, Tehani was raised by the drum beat and rhythm of Bellydance from her mother’s belly. Unable to stop Tehani from moving her feet, her mother enrolled her in the local dance school - Rivers Dance 86 - & she never looked back. Every year she attended both the Stamping Ground Dance Festival & Camp Creative dance courses.
From here she came into contact with past tutor Travis Ross & joined Groovelock, travelling & performing along the coast as a part of the hip hop dance crew. Completing her studies of HSC Dance, she moved to Sydney to study Cert IV in Performing Arts with the Urban Dance Centre faculty learning the styles of hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, Bollywood, popping, locking, & breakdancing with renown tutors - Juliette Verne, Jason Winters, Paul Saliba, Sisqo, Rosa Aguis. This opened her world to the dance industry whereby she performed in video clips, as a back up dancer, club shows, flash mobs, modelling, hair and fashion shows, & cheerleading. Tehani went on to study at Village Performing Arts with Evolve Dance under the guidance of Linda Gamblin, Kip Gamblin, Jolie Brooks Nerrell Benjamin, Paul Selwin Norton, Dean Walsh, performing two works at the Bangarra Dance Theatre.
2014 Tehani returned to Bellingen & has been teaching at the Rivers Dance 86 for the past two years. Over the past three years she has travelled to India, Europe, New Zealand, & the United States, she says the travel inspires her dance style and influences her choreography. She can't wait to bring her passion, charisma & flava to anyone interested in learning this universal language of dance.
