Environmentally friendly water-based inks will be used for the hand printing segment of the course.
The key areas to be covered are:
• Brief history of printmaking
• Design concepts
• Hand printing with a baren
• Colourisation on the computer
Various printing papers will also be shown which are suitable for both hand-printing and digital editions.
The course is designed for beginners and for people who have a basic knowledge of lino printing and would like to try woodblock printing and receive an overview of digital colourisation on the computer.
RELIEF PRINTING IN LINO AND WOOD BLOCK Materials List
I am hoping to make this course as enjoyable and hands on as possible over the 5 day period.
I will take you through the process of relief printing and woodblock designing, cutting and printing so you can produce your own prints at home.
Informative notes with contacts to buy materials and further online lessons and U tube videos will be handed out to allow you extend your learning further.

Sam has been involved in a wide range of art and design since graduating in Fine Art from the National Gallery School (Victoria). Sam currently divides his time between running his own commercial graphics studio, public art commissions, printmaking, painting and teaching life drawing and graphics at QUT in Brisbane. In 2012 Sam visited Japan and studied Japanese woodblock techniques and hand-printing with Richard Steiner in Kyoto. A solo Japanese inspired show in Byron Bay followed a year later.
