Chainsaw Carving

This exciting course uses Camphor Laurel trees that have been harvested from river banks, roads and bridges in the Bellingen area. You will be able to carve large logs knowing that you are also helping the environment.

Throughout the week, you will be immersed in ideas for carving wood. We will discuss chainsaws, basic operation fuels, oils and the environment. You’ll create a workable piece and be able to explore the concepts behind carving wood. You will create a number of fresh carvings including, something for a friend and a young child. You will understand the uses of timber and design finishing oils. It important to feel relaxed and open to sharing creative ideas and having an enjoyable time....

All wood will be supplied for this course for $50 payable to the tutor on the first day.

  • Chainsaw Saw Clean and maintained with sharp chain plus spare chain and spanner
  • Mixed Fuel and Bio Chain and bar Oil
  • Steel cap boots
  • Chaps 
  • saftey glasses
  • Gloves 
  • minimun 2 new files to suit their saws
  • refilable water bottle lunch or lunch money
