Mindful Art

Would you like to make your drawing less tight and formal?

By staying in the moment and letting go of preconceived ideas you will make semi-abstract works that give the impression of easy spontaneity. You will be asked to put aside concerns about performance and concentrate on your creativity. Watch your imagination come to life through drawing, painting with wet on wet techniques and using interesting mediums. Using some mindful drawing techniques Suzi will take you through a series of activities to awaken your right brain creativity and loosen up your drawing.

More about the course

In the morning we will do warm-up exercises to music. (Standing)  We will then explore some drawing techniques using the right side of the brain and learn how to ‘stay in the moment’ of creation. In the afternoon, (Seated) using black ink and watercolour we will paint abstract or semi-abstract works and learn easy ways to frame work for presentation. The resulting works will be atmospheric semi-abstract landscapes, or abstract designs in a limited colour palette.

This is a class where you can relax and achieve, just bring along your enthusiasm and a willingness to dispense with formal drawing requirements. The class is suitable for all levels and no previous drawing skills are needed.
