Camp Creative is a unique summer school, retreat and creative community that annually springs up for one vibrant week in January.
People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to this joyful hive of productivity, experimentation and learning.
Whether you’re a novice, hobbyist or master artist, Camp Creative is an opportunity for a surge of creative energy and inspiration for your new year.
How does it work?
You can choose one of over eighty courses across a range of mediums.
Over the week, you’ll work with your tutor and fellow students to learn and create art, performance or handcrafted works. You’ll benefit from small class sizes, practical demonstrations, quality teaching and feedback from experienced tutors dedicated to their practice.
Camp Creative is also more than just class time. Be entertained and socialise at events, concerts and creative gatherings and discover the talents of your tutors and fellow Campers.
When does it run?
All courses run over five days, from Monday January 9, to Friday January 13 2023.
Start at 9.00 am and finish at 4.00 pm, with one-hour lunch at 12.00 pm.
There are three enrolment options
- A morning course 9.00 am to 12.00 pm
- An afternoon course 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm
- A combination of two courses – one morning and one afternoon
Only certain courses run over half days.
Who are your tutors?
All our tutors are practising artists, performers and craftspeople, as well as experts in their genre and medium.
For quality tuition, class sizes are kept small, and larger classes have assistants to provide additional support. Learn more about tutors in their course listing biography.
What is there for kids & teens?
Our kids’ classes start at age five, with our teen courses up to eighteen years. Each course listing specifies an age range, which reflects the maturity and skills required to participate in the course.
There are quite a few great options for young people – at the most recent Camp in January 2020, we ran courses in visual arts, music, song, and craft.
What experience do I need?
Our tutors design their courses to suit a level of skill and experience.
Suited to those who are new to the course area or may have little or no experience.
Suitable for a range of experience and skill. Tutors understand that there will be varying skill levels and will adapt to the needs and interests of all students.

What does it cost?
Camp Creative fees include courses run by top-quality tutors, access to equipped studios and workshops, and entry to Camp events.
Some courses have additional material and course costs. This could include you providing your own materials, or paying your tutor an additional materials fee.
