Start Sewing  NEW

Got a sewing machine, with the basics down, but not sure how to take it to the next level? Get the perfect introduction to garment sewing, to get great looking results.

You’ll bring along your own beautiful fabric and sewing machine to sew either a basic t-shirt or a funky reversible skirt (or both if you have time!), that will look gorgeous and fitted just for you. You’ll learn how to read patterns, do basic pattern alterations to fit your measurements, and how to cut and prepare fabric for sewing. From there you’ll sew a woven fabric utility skirt, learning how to sew pockets, a waistband, zipper and snaps. Get hands on with sewing with knits, with your next project a stylish but comfy fit t-shirt. You can add features to your t-shirt for personalisation by using contrasting fabrics or colour blocking to your preference. Nicole will show you how to use the right threads and twin needles on a standard machine, removing the need to invest in a costly overlocker.
