Colours and patterns always make me smile. They fill my heart with such joy. It’s the spirit of children’s books, the circus, nature, beach umbrellas and lollipops. Glass lends itself wonderfully to this spirit with its myriad of saturated colours.
Nature and people inspire me. Faded old sandstone, lichen on trees, sunlight on water, dots, stripes and checks on textiles and beads, there are colours and patterns all around us. Markets, galleries and books are filled with amazing work created by talented people. Time, energy, spirit and love have gone into wonderful creations and I fill my home with them. They inspire me to create, to enjoy what I do, continue to grow and to take failures in my stride as a learning experience. Largely self taught but also helped by many artist friends I try new paths with glass always striving to make pieces that give me joy and bring joy to the person who gets to call it their own.
I work with:

  • Pure wool felt, either bought or made by me, creating whimsical, colourful, hand embroidered pieces
  • Glass, making beads for jewellery or creating functional and/or decorative kiln fired work
  • Found objects, such as driftwood, metal bits picked up at dump shops, op shops, on the street or gifted by friends and strangers to make little vignettes incorporating my glass beads and also kiln fired glass pieces
  •  Polymer Clay made into beads, elements or tiles which I mix with a variety of materials to make jewellery, mirrors, vignettes or whatever else rocks my boat
  •  Leather, wool, cotton, cane or whatever I can lay my hands on to create pieces to give joy
