Explorers Club  NEW

Keen young nature lovers are sure to love the chance to explore new places! Experienced bush skills mentors will lead curious explorers to discover the secrets of the places, plants and creatures of the beautiful Bellinger Valley.

Morning sessions will have the explorers going out into the bush in various spots around the Bellinger Valley, having fun discovering the local ecosystems, while also learning bush skills, such as shelter building and bird language. Afternoon sessions will be spent creatively expressing the explorers morning discoveries, through painting and drawing, writing, or drama games. A feature afternoon session with a guest musician will lead the group in a music-making session about their experiences in nature.

Morning Sessions

Children will meet at Bellingen High School and be transported to a bush experience site, which will end with lunch, and then transportation to the Bellingen Sustainability Centre at The Stables.

Afternoon sessions

Each day, children will have the opportunity to express their morning bush exploration experiences through art-making or writing, guided by CEL mentors. One of the sessions will include a guest musician who will guide a group music-making session that reflects their nature experiences.

Andrew Turbill

Andrew is an environmental educator and wildlife naturalist who loves sharing his knowledge of bird language, climate change science, naturalism and bushcraft skills (as well as his excellent sense of humour!) with young people and adults.

He has been the lead mentor for the Bellingen Young Naturalists Club, as well as bush camps for young people, for over ten years.
