More about the course

You’ll learn all the basic welding and metalwork techniques required for small construction and art projects. Mix theory, demonstrations and plenty of hands on time, constructing your own camping BBQ stove. You’ll also get an option to take on an extension project, to further develop your skills to the point where you can confidently tackle your own projects.

Using the excellent equipment at Bellingen High School you will learn MIG welding, Oxy and Plasma cutting, Lathe turning and fabrication and construction techniques.

The course is restricted to 12 places and apart from the general instruction each student will construct a Camping BBQ Stove (Rocket or Pig) with the option of an extension project which will incur an additional cost of $10.

There will be a $80 material (minimum) charge paid to the tutor at the start of the camp for the project. Material costs may change if there is a major change in metal costs at the time. Additional material costs for any other projects will be paid at time of construction.
