A Musical – In a Week!

Take a group of excited and passionate kids, and stir in some singing, dancing, acting, character development, and performance - and you have ‘A Musical - In a Week!’.

Spend your days in a creative space, working to a script and vocal score under the guidance of an enthusiastic, caring and well-trained production team.

It’s five days of pure fun, whilst learning a range of performance skills. With team-building activities and group work, you’ll be part of an ensemble, making friendships as you go.

Course Info

Day One
Performers gather for a meet and greet, audition workshop and casting process, read through of the script and begin the show! Drama and team-building games build confidence throughout the day and teach the set vocal warm-ups that will be used over the five days.

Day Two

Performers begin blocking and learning choreography for the musical, researching their characters and moods and developing characters with techniques from our instructors.

Day Three

Performers will finish the full musical! Today is fast-paced, and performers will be positively challenged to complete the show! All songs, scenes and choreography will be roughly finished with two days left to ‘polish and get the musical performance ready!

Day Four

Performers will be refining their scenes, songs and choreography and begin designing costumes and props for
the show!

Day Five

Performers will have several dress rehearsals with their designed costumes and props before adding in lights and staging elements before the big show! Reflections and sharing their five-day experience before preparing to perform for families and friends!

NAIDU Theatre Company

NAIDU Theatre Company has been producing workshops and musicals on the Coffs Coast for the last four years. All of their staff are working professionals, teaching, writing, performing and directing every day. Leading the company is Artistic Director Jade Naidu.

Professionally trained and qualified as a dancer, singer, actress, teacher, choreographer and producer – Jade has studied with Cecchetti Ballet Australia, Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD), the Australian Ballet School (Associate), the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and the National Institute of Performing Arts (NIPA MUMBAI) . She has a BFA (Creative Arts), Diplomas of Music Theatre, Stage & Screen and a Cert IV Dance Teaching & Management. She also holds an Associate Diploma in the Cecchetti Method of Ballet.

She has worked as a performer, choreographer and director across a wide range of professional theatre, film and television productions throughout Australia and India. Her current passion is producing independent theatre full-time with NAIDU Theatre Company, and training the next generation of performing artists at Woolgoolga Performing Arts Studio.
