Playful Painting – Intuitive Art

Rediscover your enthusiasm for art and discover painting talents you didn't know you had. You'll be moving to the beat while you splash paint across your canvas with an awesome playlist!

In a fun, encouraging environment, we will add new layers of colour as we paint large canvases and other pieces. We will share our experiences with like-minded individuals while learning new skills.

Let’s dance, splash, spray, scrape, drip, laugh, and fall head over heels for colour.

Whether you are already an artist who wishes to unleash more uninhibited enthusiasm in your work, or you are a novice artist who is intrigued by the process, these simple and intuitive techniques will act as a bridge, connecting you with your authentic creativity.

Course Info

You will create a variety of artworks, including one on a large canvas and several on quality paper. We will also create and paint a beautiful concertina artist book.

These artwork processes are designed to free you up, become playful and unconcerned about what’s next, and just enjoy the process of laying down paint.

You will discover that art can be incredibly healing, freeing, and fun.

Join Melanie in exploring new ways of seeing and deepening our trust in our innate creativity.

Day One

Activate the large canvas and begin adding background layers. Start on paper paintings for book covers with wide black lines covered with white writing plus add the first three colours.

Day Two

Add three colours to the book cover (ie paper paintings) and demo mark-making and stencils on paper once dry. Add 3 colours to the large canvas.

Day Three

Mark-making and stencils on large canvas and paper paintings. Reveal and conceal for small objects on paper paintings.

Day Four

Make book cover using paper painting, construct concertina book and paint base colour layer. Unify large canvas with transparent colours and once dry, chalk out areas to reveal and paint transparencies over the rest.

Day Five

Add finishing touches to the large canvas. Add white to coloured pages, then transparent, mark-making, small reveal/conceal and poetic writing to finish the book.
