Bellingen Shire Arts Week - January 2021

Still hanging out for a creative January in Bellingen?

We've postponed Camp Creative Bellingen until 2022 but another team of dedicated Bellingen creatives have pulled together a great program for those still wanting the summer creative experience.

Bellingen Shire Arts Week runs 10-17 January 2021.

You can enjoy creative workshops, open studios, artist talks, performances, exhibitions across the whole week and the whole Shire - Bellingen, Dorrigo and Urunga.

The Arts Week team share how it all came together:

Back in June 2020, the idea was floated by a small group of locals, including some who had been instrumental in running Arts Week in 2013, to revive the festival in 2021.

Because of the threat of COVID we knew we were taking a big gamble but now, six months later, and after such a hugely enthusiastic response and support from the local community we are going ahead, as planned, from 10 -17 January 2021.

Look at our website and you will see why we have been amazed at the wide variety of activities that have evolved  e.g. art, music, performances, workshops, photographic trails, dance, poetry, talks and special museum exhibitions.

You can enjoy open studios, talks and demonstrations and art displays all across the Shire.

Programs for Bellingen, Urunga and Dorrigo are all available online.

As an introduction to the week the Artisan’s Market will be held in Bellingen on Saturday 9 January.

*Musicians Stringline & Honey Barbara are performing Saturday 16 January

We strongly encourage everyone to book into any workshops or performances as soon as possible as in some cases numbers are limited. All COVID regulations will be strictly adhered to.

Bellingen, Dorrigo and Urunga representatives have been working very closely together to make all this happen. It has brought the three communities closer together and shows that where art is concerned there are no boundaries. As well as Arts Week offerings there are many examples of good public art such as sculptures, murals and large mosaics scattered around the Shire – definitely worth looking for.

The official opening of Arts Week will be 10.30 am on Sunday 10 January in Urunga. David Bromley’s amazing mural featuring local people will be unveiled. Please join us.

A big thank you to all our many supporters and to all the artists and other participants involved.

*Photographer Sarah Rapuano will be exhibiting in Bellingen Gallery & Framing Studio

Arts Week will definitely go ahead as planned in January 2021. We have all COVID 19 regulations in place. These are being regularly updated and all our tutors and other participants are being notified of any changes.
