YOUTH HEALTH & SAFETY

New Systems for Wellbeing & Safety

Camp Creative is a child safe organisation. The needs and wellbeing of our children and young people are of the highest priority.

Please note that all our staff and tutors have current Working With Children Checks.

For 2025 we have some new systems and procedures to provide the best possible care and support for our young Campers.

We ask that parents and guardians read all of the sections below.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Check in & out

Young people under 14 will need to be taken directly to their classrooms by a parent or guardian each day.

Their tutor will be noting their attendance on the roll, when they arrive to the classroom each day.

Tutors will have the contact information you provided when you purchased your ticket. If this information has changed, you must inform the tutor.

Please don’t send any adults aside from the ones on you have informed them of to pick them up as this puts the tutor in a bit of a spot!

Lunch time supervision

Tutors are not responsible for students during lunchtime.

All students under 14 will go to supervised kid zones unless otherwise advised to the tutor by the parent/guardian. Tutors will have lunchtime permission forms for you to fill out on Monday morning.

Kid Zones located at the following venues:

  • Bellingen High School

  • St Mary’s Primary School

  • Bellingen Youth Hub

There is NO lunch time bus taking students from outside venues into the High School. Unfortunately the logistics of this undertaking in the past have made it prohibitive.

Eating at camp creative

There is a 1 hour lunch break from 12pm until 1pm.

There are not allocated morning and afternoon tea breaks.

If your child is doing a full day course or two half day courses, meal options are as follows:

  • BYO lunch box and water bottle

  • Purchase from the High School canteen (delivery available to Bellingen High School, Bellingen Youth Hub & St Mary’s Primary)

  • Young people aged 14+ are permitted to leave their classroom and go to town for lunch (this permission must be provided directly to the tutor, by their parent/guardian, using the permission form)

Full canteen and dining information can be found here.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Excursions

Some courses involve walks or trips away from the classroom. These excursions are noted in the course descriptions and have an acknowledgement checkbox at checkout when purchasing a ticket.

If your child’s course involves an excursion, the tutor will give you a permission form to fill in. Students cannot go on excursions if the permission form has not been completed.

All excursions are accompanied by at least two adults.

Safety

Camp courses cover a variety of different activities. Safety is the highest priority of our staff and tutors.

Tutors provide a safety induction at the beginning of the course, your child is expected to follow the guidance of their tutor.

  • Name tags must be worn daily - leave them in the class at the end of each day so they don’t get forgotten at home

  • Please bring a water bottle as it will be very hot

  • Please bring a hat if your child’s course involves outdoor activities

  • There may be course specific clothing and other items – please check the course materials list

Photos & Video

There will be roaming photographers at Camp Creative during the week.

All media taken during the event will be used on our website and social media to promote Camp Creative in the future.

If you do not wish for your child to be photographed, please let their tutor know.

The tutor will provide a coloured wristband for your child to wear. We cannot be held responsible if they appear in photos because they weren’t wearing their wristband.

You can read our photography policy here.
