Rock Out A Bowie Medley on Ukulele
During our week together we are going to learn a David Bowie Medley on ukulele, consisting of 6 Bowie classics.
Believe it or not, Bowie songs sound magic on the ukulele and the Medley allows for a really fun and engaging ukulele journey. Each song has been selected and arranged to allow for different skill levels - so there will be a 'part' for everyone. We can tackle a song each half day session and slowly piece them together into the Medley which we will perform as a group.
The arrangements include basic strums, more advanced strums, and riff picking so participants get to decide how far they want to stretch themselves. The chords in some songs are quite basic - and others are way more advanced - so the course will cover some music theory, ukulele 'barre' techniques, and discussion around how to arrange songs for the ukulele. So often, ukulele song books show the chords to play, but not how to play (the strums), so participants will learn how to do this for themselves in future.
This course really is for lovers of music - and ideally, lovers of Bowie. It's for people who are open to challenging themselves and don't take themselves too seriously. I mean, it's the ukulele, right?
Ukuleles can be provided (just the cheapo models) - hopefully students will have their own ukulele and music stand. Take-home songbooks will be provided, complete with music and any necessary theory.
Links to video tutorials for each song will be available to participants for after the course to extend their Camp Creative ukulele experience.
AGE: Suitable for ages 16 to adult
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate - Suited to those who have some experience, but are looking to learn new techniques and explore more complex projects.
SCHEDULE: Full Days - Monday 13 to Friday 17 January 2025 - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
