  • DAY ONE

We will start with and introduction to the basic essential materials and equipment required for Hand Embroidery including fabric and thread choice, pattern transferring techniques, colour selection, and preparing the embroidery
    hoop.

Going on to use these methods, we will begin our very first project. Focusing on three basic but essential stitches we will create a beautiful needle cushion.

Throughout the course we will be working on a decorative sampler, as well as individual works utilising the stitches learnt.

As a complementary addition to your needle cushion, and using crewel embroidery techniques, we will make a decorative monogrammed needle case.

Thread painting (or needle painting) is a technique that allows for the detailed depiction of scenes, people, animals, and plants, emphasizing depth and realism within the stitches.

Students will have a choice of designs to embroider which will incorporate the stitches and elements required to perfect this method of stitch shading and blending.
