Hanging Ceramic Sculpture
Participants will embark on a creative journey to craft their very own ceramic hanging sculpture.
Through this series of hands-on sessions, students will delve into the fundamental techniques of handbuilding pottery, exploring various methods to construct intricate multi-part hanging sculptures. Throughout the course, students will be guided through the process of designing and crafting their hanging sculptures using multiple basic handbuilding techniques to construct a complex multi-part sculpture.
They will gain experience in techniques such as pinch pot and slab construction. Additionally, students will gain insights into surface decoration techniques using terra sigillata and burnishing.
By the end of the workshop, students can expect to have completed a unique pottery sculpture, reflecting their individual style and creativity.
This hands-on experience will not only cultivate their pottery skills but also provide a therapeutic and fulfilling outlet for self-expression. Participants will leave with newfound knowledge, inspiration, and a handmade hanging sculpture to adorn their homes or gardens.

Please bring the following on your first day of class:
Students may wish to bring a stick or natural object for the structural top of their sculpture, as well as beads or other small items to include in the sculpture.
Please note that the small objects should have a hole in them of approximately 5mm.
This class has an extra materials cost of $150, which is payable directly to the tutor.
Once you book your ticket, the tutor will be in touch to arrange payment.

Luke Ford
Luke is a versatile ceramics artist and instructor based in Coffs Harbour, NSW.
With a Diploma of Ceramics from TAFE NSW and ongoing training in education, Luke is deeply engaged in the ceramics community as a member of Coastal Claymakers and The Australian Ceramics Association.
In addition to his involvement in the ceramics community, Luke operates his own ceramics practice producing and teaching in Coffs Harbour, providing enriching workshops and classes for aspiring ceramicists of all skill levels.
Luke’s work has been featured in various exhibitions, including group showcases at Nexus Gallery, Fortyfive Downstairs, and Kerrie Lowe Gallery. Luke also has a history of solo exhibitions and participation in competitions, such as the Sydney Teapot Show and Crackpot Cup Competition.
With a passion for both creating and teaching ceramics, Luke continues to make an impact through his art and ceramics instruction, inspiring others' participation in the ceramics community.
