YOUR COURSE TUTOR

Mark Walton

New Zealand-born Mark Walton is a highly popular figure in the Australian and New Zealand musical scene. He is widely known both as a big-hearted virtuoso clarinet and saxophone performer and an inspiring teacher.

For many years Mark held the position of Chair of Woodwind and then Chair of Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, but he is now on a mission to persuade everyone he meets to play a musical instrument.

Mark was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2005 for his contribution to Music Education in Australia.

Although Mark has performed in many parts of the world, recorded numerous solo albums, and written and compiled over 200 music publications, the highlight of his musical year is always Camp Creative.

Daryl Walton

Daryl Walton grew up in a musical household, so it was destined that eventually, he would follow in his parent’s footsteps.

Daryl runs school band programs in several schools around Sydney and enjoys teaching a wide range of instruments. Although, as a teenager, the cello was Daryl’s instrument of choice, his go-to instrument is now the tenor saxophone.

Daryl has enjoyed many Camp Creatives over the years, but this will be his first wearing the much-coveted tutor’s badge.
