Portraiture Made Easier

The human face offers endless variation and portraiture is immensely rewarding painting and drawing experience.

However, portraiture is often avoided by many, being seen as too difficult. George will help you connect with the creative right side of your brain, to take a different approach.

You will commence a series of exercises which will help you see and draw shapes, commencing with the very basic extreme tonal shapes to the multi tonal and subtle shapes of portraiture as you develop your skills.

Eventually you will immensely improve your drawing skills so as to approach portraiture in a confident and satisfying way.

Course Info

No prior experience required

Please bring the following on your first day of class:

  • A3 drawing pad
  • A selection of texture pens including some wide ones
  • Pencils
  • Charcoal sticks soft, medium and hard
  • A set of hard pastels
  • Backing boards for the A3 sheets
  • A desk easel would be great although not necessary
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • A favourite portrait which you may want to work on
